Bassidi is currently available to teach Zoom classes for international students upon request. Bassidi teaches beginners through to professional players, and offers ongoing weekly group classes, small group classes, and private one-on-one tuition. He is currently in the AEST time zone until further notice.
Bassidi offers Zoom classes in the djembe, dun dun, and the Mandinka and Bobo balafon. They are one hour in length. Bassidi provides his students with in-depth explanations of the cultural context of each rhythm and song he teaches, and valuable insight into his Griot tradition. Testimonials from Recent Zoom Students…
Bassidi is a warm and generous teacher with a gift for conveying the depth of traditional and modern djembe music with clarity and sensitivity. He creates an atmosphere of contagious elation with the masterful expression of his art form, which in turns sets the stage for rapid learning curves and expansion in his students. This not only in terms of the musical phrasing he teaches, but also in his emphasis on the cultural context for arrangements and various aspects of the music. It has been an honour to participate in Bassidi’s Zoom classes, which have woken up something ancient in me relative to my journey with the drum. His teachings and beautiful compositions are an invaluable contribution to the worldwide common unity.
Many thanks, Bassidi.

I’ve been playing djembe for almost thirty years. I have studied with some of the greatest players and teachers of our time including Mamady Keita and Famadou Konate.
When I discovered Bassidi Kone’s Djembe Solo video from August 2015 (accompanied on Balafon by his super-talented cousin Khalifa), I instantly became a huge fan. In fact, next to Mamady, I love his playing the best.Thirty years ago there were no online platforms for video lessons. Today we have the blessing of being able to “sit” with Master djembe fola Bassidi Kone from anywhere in the world.Within our first few lessons, Bassidi identified issues in my playing that “no one” had identified in all my years of study. Within a few lessons with Bassidi, I was able to break through a plateau that I had been stuck at for over twenty years. I am finally reaching places in my playing that I have been dreaming about for decades!Thank you Bassidi. You are truly one of the best djembe players and teachers I have ever met.Bassidi Kone is a true Gem!I hope I get to sit with him in person some day.
